Pre Production

Shanice Khalef:

 Genre- Thriller/Mystery

 Location- Dinner party

Idea- A group of friends who try cover up a murder. Begins with a black screen that fades into long shot of the girls sitting down at a dinner party discussing about what they had done and the plan of what they need to do next in order to not get caught. There is so much tension in the room because they don’t know what to do and what is going to happen if anyone outside the group finds out. There is shouting, screaming and crying because everyone is stressed until one girl just walks out because she has had enough. No one knows where she has gone and no one knows what is she planning to do but she is gone. The girls shout come back then this cuts to a black screen where there are footsteps with someone dragging the shovel that is covered by blood across the grass. This scene is set at night time where there is no one there. It is quiet however incidental music is used to emphasise this scene. Throughout this there are constant cuts to the medium close up shots to introduce the different characters and also add tension because every one of them do not know what to do and they are panicking however there is already someone out there who is handling it. This is kept as a mystery.

 Sonila Cobaj:

 Genre- Thriller/Mystery

 Location- House

Idea- A girl who gets murdered by her father but everyone accuses her mother as she is an alcoholic and not a proper parent figure. Each character apart from the murder (father) to be revealed. For the murder it can be just close up of their hands with blood or the weapon which they used to kill her. But the twist in this is that her father has another wife whom he has children with. To be through the use of montages and also flashbacks of the victim’s parents arguing while she was a little girl. Also, flashbacks of the father leaving them and joining another family. I would like it to start off with her talking and also her dead at the same time, almost like we are flashing back to her days that she was alive. That’s when she will introduce all the characters as if she is writing a note to each and every one that she knows.

 Keera Gustave-Balaam:

 Genre- Thriller/Mystery

 Location- Outside

Idea- A girl is getting anonymous notes and texts from a sinister stalker. They are claiming to know about something she did in the summer which no one else knows. She doesn’t want anyone to find out as it could get her into serious trouble but the stalker doesn’t care. He uses what he knows to get her to do whatever he wants which causes tension in the relationships in her life. He gives her a deadline to find out who they are or they’ll reveal her secret. It’s all a game to them. The girl has to use the clues he gives her and the hints around her to find out who the person is before her life is destroyed. The person is closer to her than she thinks.

 Valjeta Rekay:

 Genre- Thriller/Mystery

 Location- Train

Idea- The trailer is going to begin with a group of young females roughly around the age of 17/18 on a quite train. A group of girls continuously laugh and conversation between each other without concentrating on their surrounding. One of the girls from the group notices a man come onto the train and sit across from them. His action is seen as unusual as the entire train cart is empty. He is sitting next to one of the girls. As the girls become aware of the man sitting besides them staring they suddenly fall quite. One of the young females turns to the man and says ‘Excuse me sir that seat is taken’, whilst the rest of the girls giggle under their breathe. He turns to her suddenly and pulls out a silver can and sprays in into her and her friends face. They cough in struggle but eventually fall silent. The girl sitting right besides the man sits completely still staring at what the man has done to her friends in disbelief. The train finally comes to a stop and the doors pull apart. She stumbles and manages to pull herself onto her feet as an attempt to get away from the man. He grabs her and sprays something in her face. There is none diegetic sound of one of the girls explaining what is happening. “I didn’t know where I was or where he was taking us. But I remind frozen still due to the about of fear that had entered my body. There was no use in screaming for help…”

 Group Final Synopsis

 Genre- Thriller/Mystery

Location- House/Outside/Woods/Graveyard/School/Cafe or Restaurant

Idea- There is a group of girls drinking and confessing their hate for the popular boy in the school. The next morning they go to school and find out that the boy is dead. In a tribute assembly and find out that he was killed in the way they said they would do it. They realise that someone was listening to them and is framing them for the murder. The constant threat against them causes their lives to come crashing down around them.

 Planning Sheet

This is the planning sheet we created for our final synopsis. Within this we sectioned this out into three sections to get an idea of how the atmosphere will be built up during the trailer. This also made it easier for us to picture how the trailer will turn out. Part one for us is all about introducing the characters and what has happened. Then part two is the fast paced section where the girls are more panicked and scared because the way they planned to kill the guy is how it happened therefore we wanted to build suspense through the short takes. Lastly, part three is just the title and the release date.

 Shot List

Before creating a final shot list we began with a first draft on a piece of paper as a rough idea of how we wanted each shot to go. This allowed us to see whether the shot would flow simultaneously and also create suspense within the shots.

Production Schedule

The purpose of this production schedule is to help us manage our time as a group and also ensure that we are organised for the days we do go out to film. This would be helpful for us as it ensures that we are firstly organised for the day and we also know what we plan to do which makes it easier to film the shots specific to that location.

 Animatic with Commentary

The commentary animatic we created is to explain each shot of the teaser trailer and to also see if any of our class mates understand our plot. This animatic gives an insight and explanation of how we would like our teaser to go and also a clearer view of seeing whether it would work .

 Animatic with Music

This animatic with music is more of a video to see whether the atmosphere and suspense we are aiming for would work and happen. This animatic with music has allowed us to get insight of the scenes where we really wanted the shots to be fast-paced.

 Final Film Poster Idea

We've chosen to use this idea of just having the girls faces along with the dead boy 'Chris' in the middle to create a mysterious tone towards the magazine where it seems as though they are all either victims or the assailant. This poster is specifically meant to focus on the face but mainly the eyes. This is because I thought that the eyes really do display emotions and for this we wanted to make the girls look guilty because within our teaser trailer the girls are basically framed for Chris's murder.

 Final Magazine Idea

We have chosen this poster as our final magazine poster for our teaser trailer because we wanted the girls to look very sophisticated. Again we have also focused more on each of the characters eyes within this poster because it makes them look mysterious as it seems as though they have something to hide. Within this poster the girls will be dressed in red so it makes them look dangerous but also girls who are seen to be the ones who not mess with. The red will also implicate Chris's blood and the danger surrounding the girls.

 Pitch

This is the pitch we created as a part of interacting with our audience to get feedback on anything we do need to improve on but also to show what we are going to include within our teaser trailer. Within this pitch we have included:

 1) The individual synopsis.

 2) The final group synopsis.

 3) Our intended target audience - which is 15 year old people as we believe that the strong violence may be sensitive to watch for the people who are younger.

 4) The props we plan to use.

 5) The locations we will be filming in.

 6) Any special arrangement as we will be filming outside school which may be disturbing for the public.

 7) Health and safety.

 8) Our individual film posters and magazine covers.

 9) Our final film posters and magazine covers.

 10) The roles we each have.

 11) Our animatics.

 Pitch Feedback

After presenting our pitch to our class we received feedback on whether people thought that our teaser trailer idea would work and also to give us the best possible advice on what film poster and magazine poster would be the most suitable for our teaser trailer. From our feedback form the class and our media teacher liked our idea and thought that it would work especially because we included the animatic with the commentary and music which made it much more understandable and it gave the class a 2D type of feeling of the trailer where it felt quite realistic. The only problems is that some people are concerned that it may turn out as a short film which then means that myself and my group have not met the criteria we are supposed to for our teaser trailer therefore we have decided to ensure we make the beginning shorter and add more fast paced shots of the girls panicking and making sure that we don't spend too much time revealing the plot but rather summarising it and not giving too much information.
